Gorey Civic Offices is proudly hosting an exhibition of 37 winning paintings from this year’s 65th Texaco Children’s Art Competition, and this evening the ‘Overall Winner’, Naoise Hennessy, a 16 years old student from Craanford opened the exhibition and the Market House Festival.
Next week, Naoise will travel to Japan, having been invited to attend the 20th International High School Arts Festival in Tokyo, as part of her prize.
Cllr John Hegarty, who was elected to the Wexford Municipal District in the May election, and left his native Gorey, is Chairman of the Market House Festival, which he said “is one of the best festivals in the country” and he called on everybody to come out in big numbers and make the 2019 Market House Festival “the best ever.” He outlined a number of highlights that shouldn’t be missed!
Cathaoireleach of Gorey Municipal District Council, was loud in his praise for everything that is happening over the Bank Holiday Weekend and he was praiseworthy for the official opening of the Pavilion at Gorey Civic Centre where a number of performances entertained the crowds in the summer sunshine.
Willie Stedmond, Chairman of Gorey Photographic Club, said it was the eighth year that the photographic club exhibited in Gorey Library and he thanked the club members and the staff of Gorey Library.
The music begins on the street tomorrow night (Friday) and continues for the weekend, the Tom Doyle Memorial March will be Saturday’s highlight, beginning at 3 pm, and Sunday’s activities will be mainly on the streets.
