The Embassy of Morocco in Dublin and Wexford County Council, with the support of the Ministry Delegate in Charge of Moroccans Living Abroad and Migration Affairs, are organising a Moroccan Cultural Day at ‘the Street’ in the Wexford County Council headquarters building at Carricklawn next swaturday at 5 pm and there is a welcome for everybody to participate.
This event is a result of the recent visit of His Excellency Ambassador Mr. Lahcen Mahraoui to strengthen ties between Morocco and Wexford in terms of education, culture exchange.
Moroccan Cultural Day will consist of traditional Moroccan Music Concert by AZA band. This band is composed of Moroccans and Americans musicians who are based in San Francisco and are traveling to Wexford to offer a taste of Moroccan music.
AZA unites traditional Tamazight (Berber) music, indigenous to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, with the global influences of its diverse members. Evocative of Saharan-African blues, danceable rhythms, soulful vocals, visually dynamic and engaging performers, AZA has been inspiring international audiences for over 15 years.
The Moroccan Cultural Day comes in perfectly as the Kingdom of Morocco prepares to celebrate, on July 30th, the 20th Anniversary of the enthronement of King Mohammed VI to the throne, it stands out for its remarkable political stability and its forward-looking economic policy, robust infrastructure and a strategic location, which have contributed to its emergence as a regional manufacturing and export base for international companies.
This cultural event through the traditional Moroccan music will offer to the Irish and to all the communities of Co. Wexford a special taste about the rich and the diverse Moroccan culture. It will also shade the light on how the Irish and the Moroccan cultures are so close, similar and share many values of friendship, solidarity, generosity and living together.
The Moroccan Cultural Day presents also an opportunity for Irish and Moroccan to meet, to exchange and explore ways to establish interesting partnerships in different areas such as in culture, in education and in business. It will certainly contribute to further strengthening the good relations between Morocco and Ireland.
There are limited spaces available and those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP to 086 1720077 as early as possible.
