Regional titles for O’Neill and Codd

Jamie Codd won his fourth champion rider title in the Northern Region in splendid style today with a treble at Loughanmore in East Antrim to bring his total to 18 winners.
Two of the winners were for Denis Murphy, Ballyboy Stables, The Ballagh, bringing his seasonal total to 22.
First timer Movin’on Up scored by three lengths in the maiden race four year old mares and Jeremy Sunshine had eight lengths to spare in the maiden race for five year old geldings. The latter is owned by Anthony Ryan and it was his fourth outing of the season.
Jamie Codd teamed up with Gordon Elliott for his third success of the day when Kruzhlinan took the open lightweight race by four lengths.
Donnchadh Doyle, Ballindaggin, saddled his 29th winner of the season and Rob James steered Kakamora to a three lengths success in the first division of the maiden race for four year old geldings.
John and Miriam Murphy, Inch, Gorey, had a powerful family success with Meep Meep Mag by five lengths in the mares maiden race and a 21st victory of the season for their son, Luke Murphy.
Jimmy Kenny, Craanford, kept the Wexford flag flying when winning the novice riders race on Pyrios for Fermanagh handler David Christie. The verdict was five And a half lengths.
Wexford riders rode every winner on the card except the second division of the four year old geldings maiden contest.
Barry O’Neill achieved a three-in-a-row when he was crowned as the champion rider in the East Region with 30 winners for the season.
The eastern season was due to close tomorrow at Stradbally, but sadly the track was found to be “unfit for racing” and the fixture has cancelled.
