Labour Party Wexford Local Election Candidate Joe Ryan has called on Renua Ireland to clarify their stance on harassing patients attending GP’s in Co. Wexford following the emergence of a video on social media where their Wexford General Election candidate admits to interfering women with attending their doctor.
Earlier this week a video emerged of Sidewalk Advocates for Life, a US pro-life group advising Irish activists how to interfere with women who they believe may be pregnant and entering their GP on the presumption that they were about to seek a termination.
It is alleged that in a video circulated of Sidewalk Advocates for Life Renau Ireland’s Wexford candidate is seen discussing how he approached a woman who were about to enter their GP premises.
Mr Ryan said; “This is a gross invasion of privacy. Any citizen is entitled to their own privacy as they enter and leave their General Practitioner. It is the law of the land that terminations can be provided in certain circumstances. What is being proposed by Sidewalk Advocates for Life is not a legitimate form of protest, rather harassment of patients and medical practitioners.”
Mr Ryan said he hopes that this type of misguided street politics will not surface in Co Wexford. Renua Ireland should clarify if they are encouraging this type of action and whether they accept the law of the land.”
