Enniscorthy’s second XI men moved into contention for promotion from Division 6 with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Avoca at Newpart School. The Wexford men took a first half lead through a Billy James effort from the top of the semi-circle, Mick Jordan finding his captain with a typical pinpoint pass.
Avoca pulled level twenty minutes into the second half but three minutes later, Cian Hogan hit the winner from a reverse stick strike after receiving the ball at the penalty spot.
It wasn’t quite finished, though, as Glenn Rothwell was forced into an excellent save at the death in order to ensure all three points headed down the N11.
