Wexford TD James Browne has welcomed news that Rosslare Europort may benefit from new property acquisitions owing to Brexit preparations by the port’s owner, Irish Rail.
According to Irish Rail Chief Executive Jim Meade, Brexit planning at Rosslare Europort highlights potential opportunities, which may result in new property requirements.
Deputy Browne is urging the Government to advance Brexit preparations at Rosslare Europort.

Deputy James Browne
“I have raised the issue of Rosslare Europort on almost a weekly basis since I came into the Dáil. I have raised Rosslare Europort with several Government Ministers. With the deadline for Brexit negotiations set for 29th March 2019, it is imperative to see the speedy development of buildings at Rosslare Europort”, Deputy Browne explained.
“There is a great deal of work to be done in Rosslare Europort to make it suitable to deal with the impact of Brexit. The necessary work clearly has not been done to date. The UK land-bridge is crucial for the transport of roll-on, roll-off freight. Without access to the land-bridge, Rosslare Europort will be the only game in town for the movement of perishable, pharmaceutical and agricultural goods transported by trucks direct to continental Europe”, Deputy Browne concluded.
