Saturday ‘points’ – two each for Codd and O’Neill.

A pair of winners for Jamie Codd at Loughanmore in East Antrim and a double at Lisronagh, Co.Tipperary, for Barry O’Neill makes the point-to-point headlines this Saturday evening.
Codd made the long journey up North where he won the four year old maiden race on Beyond Redemption by four lengths for Peter Flood and the ‘older’ maiden race for Newry trainer, Liam Lennon, on Pegase Amour.
Barry O’Neill packed his whip and saddle and headed to the Tipperary venue where he got off to a flying start in the four year old mares maiden race aboard Takinitallin for the Milestone Racing Partnership and champion trainer Colin Bowe.
There was also a geldings four year old maiden – run in two divisions – but O’Neill and Bowe were denied success with Éclair Des Sablons by a length and a half by Harley Dunne, Oulart, riding Mister Tickle owned by Rachel O’Neill and trained by John ‘Shark’ Hanlon at Bagenalstown.
Barry O’Neill’s second winner of the afternoon came on Sidetracked for Christopher Jones and Gearoid O’Loughlin, by a head, in the maiden race for five year old geldings.
Sunday’s point-to-point action is at Moorfields, Ballinaboola, New Ross, run under the auspices of the Wexford Hunt, 104 entries, going is described as “good to yielding”, first race at 12 noon.
