Frank Flannery is a name Wexford hurling supporters will recognise instantly; the Carrigtwohill native delivered that illusive Leinster Senior Club Hurling Championship to Oulart-The Ballagh in 2015, they beat Cuala in the final, only to lose out to Na Piarsaigh after extra-time in the All-Ireland semi-final. He bagged another county title for the club in 2016 by beating Cloughbawn and lost out to St Martins in the 2017 decider.
History was made at Páirc Uí Rinn on Saturday evening, Russell Rovers celebrated their first ever adult title in their 88 year existence, they beat the Beara Club 3-15 to 1-10 to secure the Junior Football Championship, a week earlier they lost out to Cloughduv 2-12 to 0-14 in the hurling final, and guess what, Frank Flannery was the coach to both teams.

Frank Flannery coached Duhallow to the Cork senior football final
He also coached the Duhallow senior football team, they only lost out to St Finbars in a very exciting Cork County final 9 days ago, St Finbars 3-14 to Duhallow 2-14, that was their fourth weekend on the trot playing, it took three games to get past Castlehaven in the semi-finals.
One is now left wondering if the Oulart-The Ballagh club had utilised Frank’s football knowledge, would they have added some football silverware to their trophy cabinet during his tenure?
