Showjumping- Jack wins the Breeders Classic

Jack Ryan is taking the world of showjumping by storm

Sixteen year old, Jack Ryan, from Inistioge, County Kilkenny, a fifth year student in Good Counsel, New Ross, added another milestone to his Showjumping career.

He was recently crowned the National Young Rider champion for the third successive year, and over the weekend he won the 33,000 euro Irish Breeders Classic at Barnadown, on the home bred, BGS McGregor.

The winning grey six year old Cardento gelding was bred, and is owned by Jack’s mother, Marguerite. The dam, Random Chance was successfully campaigned by Marguerite in Amateur classes. The nineteen year old mare foaled two weeks ago, gave birth to a full sister to McGregor, but unfortunately died following complications, a foster mother was sourced and the filly foal is doing well.

Essenar High Hopes rounded off a fantastic weekend for Jack as the combination won the 7&8yo Championship.

Jack is probably the most talented young rider in the country, both horses now head to the World Breeding Championships in Lanaken, Belgium, in a week’s time.
