Craanford weekend festival gets under way

The carnival setting up for the Ford Fest which runs for three days at Craanford village this weekend.

The Ford Fest Parade from Acqua Park to the Community Complex was led by St. Michael’s Pipe Band, Gorey, followed by contestants in the Rose of the Ford competition and a large local following got the 3rd annual Ford Fest off to a perfect start in Craanford village this evening.

The hurdy gurdy’s and a variety of carnival activity was also in full swing and the main music act of the night was Mary Farrell.
Tomorrow’s (Saturday) events include Peak Fitness and Dom Ryan Fitness followed by musical entertainment from 6.30 – 8.30 pm and the headline act is American Heart on the stage and a large crowd is anticipated.
The Rose of the Ford will be chosen on Sunday at 4.30 pm and a successor to last year’s excellent winner, Katie Keogh, will be crowned.
Elvis impersonator Cathal Byrne will be “all shuck up aha aha” and from 8 pm until late the music is by the Heartbeats.
This is one of the newest village festival and is organised by Raymond Byrne and a local committee to raise funds for the dressing rooms at Craanford Complex.
You don’t have to be from Craanford to join in the entertainment. Everybody is welcome to drop by for a good time.
