The Wexford Equestrian Centre hosted a qualifier for HSI Sport Horse and Sport Pony Foal Championship on Monday evening. The qualifier attracted entries from all over the country, in fact the winner of the Showjumping colt section, John Buttimer, travelled all the way from Bandon in County Cork.
Claire Atkinson, The Ballagh, won the Eventing filly section with her foal, by Chinook Eclipse (TB), out of the Ricardo Z (ZANG) mare, Turtuladh Scarlett (ISH).

Johnny Murphy has qualified two ponies for the Final in Cavan
Johnny Murphy, Togoat, scored a double on the night; he won the colt section in Showjumping, with a foal by Feagh Cavalier out of Flaminca and in the Eventing section, a foal by Riverdale Goliath out of BBS Ciscos Cavalier.
Stephen McDonald, Camolin, won the filly section in Showjumping, with a foal by Western Sunny, out of Dancing Jasmine, by Mooresclover.
The Championship for horses has a prize fund of almost €30,000 and this year, the inaugural sections for ponies, has a prize fund of €10,000. There are five regional qualifiers, with separate categories, and sections, for horses and ponies, for potential showjumping foals, and potential eventing foals.
The winners from each section go forward to the finals in the Cavan Equestrian Centre on Friday 19th of October.
