The Jim Bolger sponsored, National Grand Prix, at the Bannow Rathangan Show, went to Mr Rockefeller, ridden by Vincent Byrne.
The successful combination were winning the class for the third year, they also collected the prize in 2013 and 2015. The 14yo gelding, by ARD VDL Douglas, out of the Kings Servant mare, Kings Aire, also won the Pettitts Championship, as a 6yo back in 2010, and following the presentation Dan Walsh spoke to the winning rider.

The Pettitts 5&6yo Championship is synonymous with the show at Killag, victory this year went to Grace O’Donnell, she partnered her own 5yo mare, Diamond Infinity. Grace is a daughter of Kevin and Miriam O’Donnell, Bramblestown, Gowran, and point-to-point goers should remember the Kilkenny’s racing on their land.
Sven Hadley made the long journey from Loughrea pay dividends as he partnered Ganorad to victory in a leg of the Mervue Equine Leinster Summer Tour.
