Wexford handlers dominated the Tattersalls May Sale at Cheltenham on Thursday; six of the top ten lots were consigned by Wexford trainers.

Cormac Doyle’s, East Galway winner, Monkfish was knocked down to Harold Kirk on behalf of Willie Mullins for £235,000. The same combination bid £225,000 to secure James Doyle’s Dawson winner, Run Wild Fred.

Kieran McManus secured Colin Bowe’s Dawson winner, Lock’s Corner, for £225,000, and the Kiltealy trainer also sold another four horse for six figure amounts; Jasmin des Bordes (FR)- £145,000, Paxman (IRE)- £110,000, Easyrun de Vassy (FR)- £105,000 and Pogue (IRE).

The stats from the May Sale once again showed an increase on previous years, there were 67 horses came under the hammer, 51 were sold, an aggregrate of £3.56 million, an average of almost £70,000 and a median of 45,000.
