Thirty-four of the fifty-eight horses catalogued at the Tattersalls Cheltenham May Sale at Newmarket on Thursday hailed from Wexford yards. The Wexford handlers dominated proceeding, and they were responsible for eight of the top 10 sales.

Cormac Doyle’s Call Her Now, a 4yo mare, from the family of Gold Cup winner, Denman, also by Presenting, out of Denman’s Witness Box half-sister, Denwomanwas.

She was knocked down to Andrew Hickman, who signed under Harry Fowler’s Rahinston Stud. Fowler confirmed that the Necarne winner had been bought “for an existing client of [wife and trainer] Lorna Fowler”, and that future training plans were unknown.

Last week’s Tralee winner, City Chief, was a £210,000 purchase for David Minton of Highflyer Bloodstock, from Denis Murphy and he will now join Nicky Henderson.

Colin Bowe was well represented at the sale, Pimlico Point joins Herefordshire trainer Kerry Lee for £160,000, and Knowsley Road joins Paul Nicholls for £135,000.
