A limited return of point-to-points was announced today with the first fixture scheduled for Saturday April 10th.
April 10 Cork
April 11 Tipperary
April 17 Fairyhouse
April 18 Fairyhouse
The four fixtures, with races for four- and five-year-olds only, have been confirmed, all run under strict protocols, with only essential staff in attendance on racecourses authorised by Horse Racing Ireland.
Brian Kavanagh, Chief Executive of Horse Racing Ireland, said:
“This limited restart of Point-to-Points is welcome and will allow handlers to run their horses in these important categories. The meetings will be subject to the same Covid Protocols that have served us well since racing resumed last June and hopefully will provide some welcome relief for the Point-to-Point community.”
Tomhaggard native, Tiernan Power rode his first winner in the UK on Tuesday afternoon at the Gloucester point-to-point races.
Flaming Ambition ran out a convincing 5 lengths winner of the 4&5yo Maiden, he was part of the Harley Dunne team of horses sent to the UK to run in English point-to-points.
