Gorey Community School took third place in the Bluegrass Horse Feeds School Showjumping Open Championship in Balmoral on Saturday morning.
Ten teams of four riders represented schools from all over Ireland; Lurgan College, Newbridge College, St Gerard’s School, Ballyclare Secondary School, Down High School, Royal School Armagh, Maynooth Post-Primary School, Rainey Endowed Grammar, East Glendalough School, and Gorey Community School.
Down High School and Newbridge College both returned zero faults for the the two round competition and victory went to the northern team who posted a faster time.
Gorey’s team of Emma Stacey & Castlemore Cailin, Emma Carton & Bobbing Robin, Michelle Hughes & Curious Daisy and Jessica Murphy & Ashwood Bouncer, took third place on four faults.
Twenty four of the best combinations in the country competed in the Millar McCall Wylie 128- 85cms Under 10’s Championship on Saturday afternoon. Gorey’s, Lauren Adams, jumped clear with both her ponies, Killaloe Gypsey and Dimples Dilemma, but unfortunately finished just outside the ribbons.
