South Wexford and beyond is shocked at the untimely death of Aidan Browne, a father of three in his 40’s, from Hillcastle, Tagoat, who lost his life when his motorcycle struck a pole at Drumcree, Co. Westmeath, around 11 am on Sunday morning.

No other vehicles were involved. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar.
The Irish Sidecar and Motorcycle Racing Supporters Club posted Facebook tributes to their “dear friend and fellow passenger” Aidan Browne, whom they described as “the life and soul of the party.”
He was described as a stalwart of Irish Sidecar racing over the past 15 years who took part in TT’s and this year was due to compete in the Pikes Peak Hillclimb in the United States.
“Aidan you will be missed by us all, but none more than your family, whom you adored and our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time,” concluded the tribute.
Aidan was highly respected and popular in the community and was known throughout the country for his organisational skills in running the famous Tagoat Steam Rally over many years.
Local public representative, Cllr Ger Carthy, expressed support for the Browne family at this sad time in their lives at Monday’s meeting of Wexford County Council.
Aidan Browne is beloved husband of Aedin and father of Sean, Ruairi and Aoibhinn, son of Lar and Jenny, brother of Noel and Laura; sadly missed by his family, brothers-in-law, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, relatrives and friends.
Reposing at his parents’ residence, Hillcastle, Tagoat, on Wednesday from 2 pm to 8 pm. Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Tagoat, on Thursday at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in the New Cemetery, Tagoat. R.I.P.
