Soccer- North End United win FAI Junior Cup

North End United made history this afternoon in the Aviva Stadium as they became the first Wexford club to lift the FAI Junior Cup.

Paul “Spot” Murphy opened the scoring in the first half from the penalty spot after being fouled.

Pike Rovers proved the stronger in the second half as a Steven McGann strike sent the tie into extra time.

The two sides were still deadlocked after a further 20 minutes of extra time and the dreaded penalty shoot out was used to decide the result.

North End went on to win the tie 5-4 on penalties.

Liam Spratt spoke to North End United’s manager, John Godkin, and captain, Paul “Spot” Murphy.
