New Ross TD, Verona Murphy has welcomed a €50,000 grant for Tellarought Castle, Terrarath, Newbawn, New Ross.

The €50,000 funding has been granted under the Historic Structures Fund. This fund is for conservation and enhancement of historic structures and buildings for the benefit of communities and the public.

“This funding will go a long way to the ongoing reinstatement works at Terrarath Castle”

The Government has also allocated €79,000 under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS) for works to maintain and repair 12 historic buildings across Co Wexford, Ms.Murphy has confirmed.

“Not only will this funding help to maintain these important historic buildings across our area, but it will also support employment as many of these small-scale projects are labour-intensive projects to repair and safeguard our built heritage.”

“Many are supported by local voluntary heritage groups and this investment is an acknowledgment of the work of such groups. Other projects support the maintenance of private properties that have been maintained by local families which add to the history of our local areas and for the generations to come,”
