Gorey is ready for chorus of musical voices

Five hundred voices, four venues over three days, and twenty choirs from all parts of Co. Wexford complete the menu for the Festival of Choirs taking place in Gorey from Friday to Sunday, May 11-13th, makes for a quality musical festival weekend.
Paul Brown, Director, stated; “The objectives of the festival are to raise funds by showcasing the musical talent of people from County Wexford and to provide a forum where choirs can come together to sing and socialise in a non-competitive event.”
The programme includes the Primary Schools at Gorey Little Theatre (May 11th at 3.30 pm); Jazz Light and Popular Music at 8 pm; Singing Class for Beginners at Gorey Credit Union (May 12th at 1 pm); Acapella and Georgian Singing (2.30- 4.30 pm), and St. Michael’s Parish Church (May 13th at 7 pm) Sacred Music.
Choirs performing include Tara Hill School Choir, Ballycanew School Choir, Ballyduff School Choir, CILA School Choir, St Aidan’s, Bunscoil Loreto Gorey Choir, Creagh School Choir, Castlebridge Singers, Silvertones, New Ross Singers, Rolling Tones, Gorey Choral Group, Quay Not Singers, Stagefright, Valde Chamber Choir, Wexford Georgian Ensemble, St Michael’s/Craanford Singers, Ballygarrett Parish Choir, Cantable Choir and Enniscorthy Gospel Choir.
The event is a fundraiser for the charity, Wexford Hospice Homecare Service, which has been in existence for over 25 years and provides home care nursing and a support service for people enduring dark days.
Sponsors of the event are Gorey Municipal District Council, LoveGorey, Gorey Print and Poacher’s Well.
