In a welcome tonic to the gloomy experiences of recent days, many people in County Wexford made the most of the glorious weather we were blessed with today, by getting out and about in the sunshine.
The last number of weekends have brought with them a regular diet of storms and unsettled weather, meaning opportunities for ‘days out’ were limited.
With all local sporting events cancelled, there was an opportunity for families to spend time together different ways. From cycling or gardening, to walking and running – the roads, beaches and parks of the county were well used today as people enjoyed welcome respite from the anxiety which has gripped the nation over the last few days.
News circulated earlier in the week that Hook lighthouse was closed to the public, but this did not deter Wexfordians and visitors alike from visiting one of the counties star attractions and admiring its beauty.

Duncannon beach was another popular retreat, with a large number of cars to be seen along the shoreline, with the wonderful sight of families enjoying their day out on the beach and in the water.

Despite the guidelines prohibiting organised large gatherings of people, it is recommended that people continue to get out and about in the fresh air, with exercise being all important for body and mind, so long as ‘social distancing’ is observed.
