Wexford Youths 1- 0 Cork City
A third minute goal from Aisling Frawley was enough to secure all three points for Wexford Youths at Ferrycarrig Park on Saturday evening in the Continental Tyres Women’s National League.
The home side almost opening the scoring in the first minute as Claire O’Riordan forced a save from the Cork keeper.
We spoke to Kylie Murphy and Claire O’Riordan following the Wexford Youths victory on Saturday evening.
Sophie Lenehen tipped the ball onto the Wexford crossbar to deny Saoirse Noonan from a placed ball.
Kylie Murphy headed the ball to the back of the Cork net on 17 minutes but this was ruled out for offside.
On the half hour mark, Murphy forced the Cork keeper to tip her long range effort over the bar for a corner.
Rianna Jarrett was introduced in the second half, she almost made an immediate impact as her effort went to the left of the post.
Saoirse Noonan had a late chance to level the game but she fluffed her shot and Wexford held out for a one nil victory to bag all three points in the tie.
