The point-to-point action took place in Downpatrick, Co. Down, today where 18 years old Jordan Gainford from Caim, Enniscorthy, rode the first double of his career for Antrim handler Warren Ewing.
Only The Bold, who unseated last day out at Borris House, showed class with a nine lengths victory in the maiden race for five-year-old geldings to get Gainford on the scoreboard. In the same colours of handler Ewing another success came on board The Great White by eleven lengths in the maiden race for six years old plus geldings’ race. Gainford’s double puts him on the three-winner mark for the season, equalling last years total, doubling his career winner record to six victories.
On the same card Barry O’Neill scored on Eddies Miracle for Fermanagh handler David Christie with one and a quarter length to spare in the Open Lightweight Race. The 12-year-old Eddies Miracle has won all three of his races this season and this was his 10th victory in total.
