Tomorrow marks a very special and unusual day for Blackwater GAA Club. This year the club decided to enter 2 teams in the Wexford Junior B district hurling championship.
Thanks to some fantastic performances to date they have both qualified for the district semi finals, and will face each other tomorrow at 11am in Blackwater.
A couple of interesting pieces of information about the two teams – brothers James and Paddy Cullen of Ireland’s fittest family fame will line out on opposing teams, while twins James and Brian Dooley will line out on the same team. Their father won an All Ireland B championship with Kildare in 1980.
The club on their website have written a nice piece about the last time two Blackwater teams played each other in the championship, all the way back in 1936:
1936 – Blackwater v Blackwater | Blackwater GAA Club

The other semi-final sees Crossabeg Ballymurn take on Na Fianna (formerly known as Clonard).
Best of luck to all teams.
