Pope Francis has appointed Fr Gerard Nash as the new Bishop of Ferns. The appointment comes following the retirement of Bishop Denis Brennan.

Originally from Tulla in Co.Clare, Bishop-Elect Nash was ordained in 1991 and served in many different roles, including as a teacher in Roscrea Vocational School, Priest in Corofin and Crusheen before being appointed as Diocesan Secretary in the Diocese of Killaloe in 2010. In 2016 he was appointed Director of Pastoral Development for the Diocese of Killaloe.
