Road Surfaces Worsen After Spell of Bad Weather

The recent spell of bad weather has brought attention to the current state of many rural roads in Co.Wexford. Recent heavy rains, combined with already poor road surfaces have caused the condition of many roads to deteriorate significantly.

One such example is in the Springhill area close to Enniscorthy. With the link road from the Esmonde Road to Brownswood being in particularly bad shape. It must be noted that this route is a much used route to Meanscoil Gharman and also serves many residential properties.

The recent rains have left the road like an obstacle course, but even prior to this, the road in question has been in bad shape with local residents expressing their dissatisfaction at the condition the road was left in to enable access to manhole covers:

One resident who contacted us about the issue said:

“After bad weather, a crew comes out and fills in the holes, but as soon as it rains all of the patching is washed away again. It needs a proper job to fix the issue and the way those manhole covers have been left is unacceptable.”

Which roads are in bad condition in your area? Where is the biggest pothole in the County? Let us know.
