Following reports of a HSE plan which would lead to a reduction in the number of intern Doctors at Wexford General Hospital based on current levels, Local TD Verona Murphy has launched at petition opposing the move, which she intends to present to Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly.
The petition is also aimed at securing better resources for the Child and Adolescents Mental Health Services (CAMHS) unit at Arden House.
In a post on her facebook page, Verona Murphy said:
“Following on from the news that the HSE propose to cut 4 soon to be newly qualified doctors from Wexford General Hospital, I plan to present the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly with a petition to show Wexford people will not stand for this proposed cut to our frontline staff at this time or anytime.”
“This same petition will also inform Minister Donnelly and his department that County Wexford has had enough of its empty promises in relation to our CAMHS unit and the failure to provide a full time child psychologist and paediatric dietician to Arden House. As a County we must stand up to these reprehensible and indefensible behaviors towards our County and people.“
