Murphy Extends Congratulations to New Ross

Wexford Independent TD, Verona Murphy has extended her congratulations to New Ross for winning the Local Town Promotion Initiative in the 2020 Bank of Ireland ‘Begin Together’ Awards.

The Bank of Ireland Begin Together Awards – previously known as the National Enterprise Town Awards – bring business and community groups together to support local recovery and rebuilding. The initiative was fast-tracked to provide funding to winning towns in early October and directly assist their Covid-19 recovery. This award was based on a promotional campaign designed to help kickstart the local economy and the first prize of €10,000 is heading to New Ross.

Speaking this morning from her constituency office in New Ross, Verona Murphy TD said “I am delighted to hear the news that New Ross has been announced the winner of the Local Town Promotion Initiative. Great credit must go to Mick McCormack the New Ross District & Town Manager and to Wexford County Council Director of Services Eamonn Hore for all their work.

The Deputy added “It is also important to highlight the hard work of all county councillors in the New Ross district who helped in any way to support this initiative, particularly Independent Councillors Pat Barden and Anthony Connick, who quietly make a substantial contribution to the ongoing progress of the town”.

Deputy Murphy concluded, “the first prize of €10,000 can now be put to good use to help ensure the continued promotion of the town of New Ross. All towns in Co.Wexford have great potential to flourish and it is great to see the hard work in New Ross receiving some recognition. Once again, congratulations to all involved.”
