Courtown RNLI Lifeboat Launched for the First Time

Courtown RNLI came to the assistance of a speedboat with engine difficulties south of the Harbour on Monday evening.

RNLI lifeboat volunteers, Brian McEvoy at helm, accompanied by Mark Conn and Tom Dalton, launched at 5.10pm, and located the 15ft speedboat near the rocks, just south of Courtown Harbour, with two people on board, and the boat with 2 people onboard was towed safely back to land.

Weather conditions were good at the time.

A spokesperson for Courtown RNLI said,

“We remind the public to always carry a means of calling for help, always wear a lifejacket and other appropriate protection, always check the weather and tides before going to sea and please Respect The Water.”
