21-year-old Aoife, the daughter of Liam Dunne and Eithne Sinnott, has been named the Maynooth University Senior Camogie Player of the Year 2019/20. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

She has had many achievements from underage up to adult stage, she won numerous underage titles with Oulart The Ballagh, has played senior with the club since 2015, they went on to win the all Ireland club final that year under the management of Philip Rossiter.

She has won two county titles, two Leinster titles and one all Ireland, a Leinster league title (under Colin Sunderland), and league senior titles with Oulart The Ballagh. In 2013, she won a Leinster Junior Title with Colaiste Bríde Enniscorthy.

Aoife is currently doing a Social Science Degree in Maynooth University, where she has been on the scholarship programme, this has given her a great platform to work on strength and conditioning, under Jenny Duffy (sports development officer).

Last year they reached the Ashbourne/Purcell Cup and Fr Meagher weekend, played in Mallow, lining out at wing-back, they had a one-point victory over NUIMG (National University of Galway) under the management of Paul O’Dohonue.

This year, Aoife and her teammates got to the Ashbourne Shield Final, she said,

“My ambition was to follow the footsteps of my aunties from both sides of the families.”

“I had great support from my parents, and my two brothers, Billy and Jack, through the bad and good times, and I’m very thankful. Growing up, I have played alongside the likes of Mary and Una Leacy, Ursula Jacob, Karen, and Colleen Atkinson and Ciara Storey.”

She has got a lot of support and encouragement from her father Liam down through the years.

Aoife has played on development inter-county teams all the way up and is currently involved with the senior county team under the new management of Kevin Tattan.
