World’s Largest Plane Will Fly over Wexford Today

The world’s largest aircraft is due to fly over Wexford this afternoon on its way to Shannon with a consignment of personal protective equipment (PPE) from China.

The Antonov AN-225 cargo transporter began its journey in China and has refueled in Kazakhstan.

The aircraft is six storeys high, has 32 wheels, is 230 tonnes heavier than a jumbo jet, and was originally used to launch the former Soviet Union’s shuttles into outer space.

She is expected to land in Shannon at 2.10pm, but the Flight Tracker App is showing a 1.35pm landing.

Her current flightpath is showing her directly over Camolin and Ferns sometime around 1 pm. Hopefully, the sky will brighten up, but one thing is certain, you will be sure to hear her overhead.

For live tracking of the plane you should download the “Flight Tracker” and search for Antonov

Her current flightpath brings her north of Enniscorthy and south of Gorey
She is currently in Romanian airspace.
