A man in his 20s has died and a woman has been seriously injured in a road collision near Ballinaboola this morning. 

The male driver of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash happened near Ballinaboola at approximately 5am. 

The passenger, a woman in her 20’s was taken to University Hospital Waterford. 

The road was closed for a time but has now re-opened. 

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, who were in the area at the time and particularly those who may have dash cam footage to contact New Ross Garda Station on 051 426030, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
