Over the course of the last few weeks, many will have noticed a sharp increase in the numbers of people using roads to cycle and walk. With little else to do, many people are getting into the routine of taking regular exercise on the roads.
However, this also means that inexperienced cyclists/runners/walkers are doing so without making themselves aware of the correct rules to follow.
For cyclists, the big two issues appear to be:
- People cycling on the wrong side of the road. Cycle on the left hand side of the road, the same as a car.
- People cycling on footpaths. Footpaths are for people on foot, not on bikes.

In relation to pedestrians two main issues appear to be:
- Wearing dark clothing when walking in evening or nighttime
- Walking on the incorrect side of the road. Walk/Run on the right-hand side of the road if there are no footpaths.
