Fine Gael have confirmed that Minister Michael D’Arcy who lost his seat in the general election earlier this month will stand in the upcoming Seanad Elections. Having first been elected to the Dail in 2007, D’Arcy lost his Dail seat in 2011, and was subsequently elected to the Seanad administrative panel shortly afterwards and served as a Senator until his re-election to the Dail in 2016.
No doubt D’Arcy will hope that his experience over the last few years as a government minister will be a helpful factor in gathering the votes necessary to see his re-election to the Seanad.
