Following the launch of the new Bilboa ferry from Rosslare Europort, Independent Wexford TD Verona Murphy has called for investment and the upgrading of the port’s status to Tier 1.
Speaking from Rosslare, Deputy Murphy said:
‘In my capacity as a public representative, I would like to further the cause of making Rosslare Europort a Tier 1 port and giving it Tier I status. That can be done through volumes and we would expect that there may be some alleviation of state aid rules post-Brexit.’
Deputy Murphy was involved in negotiations to get Brittany Ferries to open the route from Co Wexford, marking the first time the French company has operated a passenger service from the port.
Ms Murphy welcomed the service, which sails twice weekly to the Northern Spanish city.
