Saturday’s point-to-point at Farmaclaffley, Co. Armagh, was run in testing conditions and turned out to be a remarkable afternoon for champion rider Barry O’Neill who enjoyed a four-timer and finished the day with 31 winners to his credit this season and a 30% success strike rate.
Barry got into winning form on Danjaman, by four lengths, in the Confined Hunt Winners Race for local trainer Marshall Watson. This was followed by a double success for Fermanagh handler David Christie – Winged Leader by six lengths in the Open Lightweight and On The Sod, now unbeaten in three races, in the Winner of Two by four lengths.
Victory number four came in the final of the six races on the card – the six year old geldings plus maiden race – on Westy Fox by one length for handler Jim Dreaper from Kilsallaghan, Co. Dublin.
