A promising performance on the opening day of the SSE Airtricity First Division saw Wexford FC take a point against UCD in Ferrycarrig Park on Friday night.

The visitors went ahead in the 16th minute through Colm Whelan, but a brilliant Conor English strike late in the game gave the home side a well-earned point in the first game of the season.
