Feelings of shock and great loss have been evoked by the sudden death of Kenneth Quinlivan, (76), a retired educator, which occurred at his residence, Ros na Rí, Mill Road, Bunclody, this morning.
A native of Ennis, Co. Clare, Mr Quinlivan arrived in Bunclody to teach English and History at the local Vocational College in the early 1970’s.
He became Vice-Principal of that school and eventually became Principal of Enniscorthy Vocational College in 1978. He spearheaded the provision of a new school at Milehouse, Enniscorthy, in the mid-1980’s before becoming Principal of Colàiste Abbáin, Adamstown, 1993. He retired in 2004.
Senan Lillis, who replaced Mr Quinlivan as Principal at Adamstown, paid tribute on social media. “A true gentleman in the true sense, he was loved by students and staff alike. He knew the name of every pupil and welcomed everyone individually to school every morning.”
KENNETH QUINLIVAN, loving husband of Maura and father of Aoife, Kevin and the late Cliodhna, brother of Brian, Eddie, Dermot and Rita. Sadly, missed by his wife, son, daughter, son-in-law Paul, relatives, neighbours, former teaching colleagues and friends. Ar dheis Dé ar a anam.
Reposing at his residence on Friday February 21st from 2 pm to 6 pm. Removal on Saturday at 11.30 am to Church of The Most Holy Trinity, Bunclody for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Calvary Cemetery, Bunclody. House private on Saturday morning please.
