The Wexford Cup clash between North End Utd and St Josephs was the sole soccer fixture to survive in the county on Sunday. The Wexford Football League called all games off on Saturday afternoon due to the torrential rain forecast from Storm Dennis.
Both North End Utd and St Josephs agreed to play the fixture providing it passed a pitch inspection, which it duly did. The pitch at Belvedere underwent drainage work a few seasons ago, re-laid, and it was this process that allowed yesterday’s game to go ahead.
