Wexford is producing a number of top class four-year olds and both the maiden race at Nenagh and Punchestown today had the first three home from Wexford stables with champion handler Colin Bowe saddling the winners.

At Nenagh Velvet Elvis gave Ballindaggin rider Peter Kavanagh his second victory with an easy twenty lengths success over Mahler Mission for Cormac Doyle and Pearse Rogan with another Bowe trained runner Doran’s Bridge taking the third spot under Jimmy Kenny.

Rob James had a winning ride on Bareback Jack to make it a double in the four-year-old maidens for Bowe and the Milestone Racing Partnership at Punchestown. Blumen Glory was runner-up for Denis Murphy and Jamie Codd with Dancing With Deco trained by Liam Kenny, Craanford, for owner/rider Harley Dunne coming in third.

Jamie Codd was successful on first timer We Will Sort It for Cian Collins in the maiden race for five year old geldings at Punchestown, winning by five lengths.

There was a also point-to-point action at Avondhu, near Fermoy, today where the maiden race for five-year olds was won by File Illico for Caitrona and Michael Goff, Clondaw, Enniscorthy, with Shane Fitzgerald up. The winner won by ‘a distance’ and is for sale. Goff’s success came in the second race, but in the interest of safety the meeting was abandoned after the third race.
