The Count has been adjourned until morning after the result of the Seventh Count – the distribution of Deirdre Wadding’s vote – was announced just before midnight.

Sinn Fein’s Johnny Mythen was formally elected on the First Count. He polled a massive 18,717 first preferences to become the first Sinn Fein candidate elected in Wexford for 102 years.

The order for the remaining four seats (over night) is as follows; Brendan Howlin (12,307; James Browne (9,246) ; Verona Murphy 7,820; Michael D’Arcy 6,922; Malcolm Byrne 6,843; Paul Kehoe 6,712; Ger Carthy 5,738.
