With about two-thirds of the ballot boxes open it is clear that Johnny Mythen of Sinn Fein will be elected with a quota and a half to distribute. The Enniscorthy candidate has confirmed that he is home and hosed with a huge majority.
Distribution of Mythen’s surplus will be interesting and will have a major bearing on the chances of a number of candidates.
Official tally figures are not yet available and there are a cluster of candidates where it is still all to play for.
Ballot boxes opened at 9 am at the Count Centre at St. Joseph’s Community Centre, Bishopswater. Over 100 staff are involved under the direction of County Registrar Marie Garahy.
191 boxes from across Co. Wexford were used in yesterday’s General Election poll. 15 candidates are chasing five seats in the Wexford Constituency.
