The first four-year-old maiden race of 2020 is the first race off at 1 pm at the Wexford Hunt annual point-to-point fixture at Knockmullen House, New Ross, tomorrow (Sunday) that has attracted 93 entries for the six-race card.
Secretary Bridget O’Gorman said everything is ready for the day’s action. “The weather is forecasted to be dry with a few showers, so hopefully it won’t be too wet on the day. The fences have been up since Tuesday and all the tents went up today (Saturday). Up-to-date ground conditions are described as “soft, yielding to soft in places.”
She added; “The new bypass road for New Ross is now open and it can be used to reach the point-to-point if people don’t want to go through the town. If you go as far as the Ballymacar roundabout, take the first exit for New Ross and when you get to the next roundabout the point-to-point will be signposted from there.”
The Wexford Hunt point-to-point, which was previously held at Ballinaboola, have moved to this new venue last November where the track won favour with all vested interests, and this is the second hosting at the New Ross track which is just off the newly opened N25 New Ross Bypass and in sight of the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Bridge which opened to traffic for the first time this week.
Organisers are hoping for big support on the day with a good day’s sport promised. Admission is €10.
