Point-to-point races today at Dungarvan and Kilfeacle and Wexford connections were in winning form. Winners in the first three races at Dungarvan. Another in Cork. Total for the day four from 12 races.

It was a particularly exciting day for owner/handler John Byrne from Kilmore who had his very first winner with first timer and home bred Starvoski who won the five year old mares maiden race by 10 lengths with Tiernan Power Roche, Tomhaggard, in the saddle. Barry O’Neill and Colin Bowe shared a victory when Erne River, in the Milestone Racing Partnership, ran out a winner by one and a half lengths in the five-year-old geldings maiden race.

Ivan Walker who trains at Drumderry, Bunclody, saddled a winner in the mares’ maiden race, Drumderry Ask, sporting the colours of Drumderry Racing Syndicate, who ran out a twenty lengths winner under Cork rider Johnny Hurley. It is Walker’s first winner of the current season.

One Wexford winner on the Cork circuit at Kilfeacle. Annie Day, owned by John Redmond, enjoyed a twelve lengths victory for Duncormick handler John Walsh and giving Cleariestown rider Barry Stone his first success of the season.

Next week’s point-to-point is the annual Wexford Hunt meet at Knockmullen, New Ross, first race is off at 1 pm and entries close on Tuesday at 12 noon.
