Local elections poll topper last May, Cllr Ger Carthy, this morning announced that he will be an Independent candidate in the Wexford constituency for the forthcoming General Election on Saturday, February 8th.
“Having topped the poll in the local elections of May 2019 and having been re-elected to Wexford County Council for a second consecutive term, I believe the time is now right for me to serve the people of Wexford with the strong representation they deserve at national level,” Cllr Carthy told WexfordToday.com
“As an independent candidate I will be campaigning on the key issues that make a real difference to people in their everyday life such as Health, Education, Housing and Job Creation, as well as seeking to ensure a positive and prosperous future for the youth of today and our children.
“As Chairperson of the Rosslare Municipal District, one of my focus points has been the development of Rosslare Europort and its facilities. Having made good progress in this area, I intend to continue to push the upgrade of this asset that I know can help boost the economy of the whole of County Wexford.
Cllr Carthy has worked as health professional, operating on the front line for over 12 years and promises to tackle the difficulties faced by patients and healthcare workers alike in the current unacceptable situation. “My in-depth knowledge and understanding of patient and staff need has me well placed to ensure the very best for our health service.”
Son of former councillor, the late Leo Carthy, who served on Wexford County Council for 49 years, the diligent Our Lady’s Island public representative and voluntary community worker has embarked on the General Election trail using the catchy slogan “Forget the Parties, and vote No. 1 Ger Carthy”.
