Soft going at Tinahely point-to-point tomorrow

Recent heavy rain means that ground conditions at Fairwood, Tinahely, tomorrow (Sunday) are described as ‘soft’, but good racing is forecast with 98 entries for six races, the first is off at 12.30 pm.

The Winner of One race is confined to novice riders and could be the most competitive event of the day and punters are likely to support Denis Murphy’s Beatthebullet.

Admission is €10 and the hosting hunt, Shillelagh & District, are hoping for good support. Sunday will be a bright and mainly dry day with sunny spells and isolated showers. It will be cold, with highest temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees, in light to moderate southwest breezes.

1 pm; The Shillelagh & District Hunt Thanking Local Farmers 5&6 Years Old Geldings Maiden Race (31).

1.30 pm; Slaney Foods Open Lightweight Race (16).

2 pm; Central House Shillelagh Winner of One Race (confined to novice riders), (16 entries).

2.30 pm; Germaines Bar & Restaurant Baltinglass 7 Years Old plus Mares Maiden Race (12).

3 pm; Sheridan-Colohan Insurances 7 Years Old plus Geldings Maiden Race.
