New vehicle lockup facility located at Gorey Fire Station has received funding.

Minister Paul Kehoe has announced funding for a new Civil Defence facility in Gorey. The new facility, co-funded by the Department of Defence and Wexford County Council, will house an ambulance, a four-wheel drive vehicle and shelving for supplies.

The Gorey Civil Defence unit, which has 12 volunteers, provides first aid and ambulance cover for the community. The total cost of the project is approximately €35,000.

The Department of Defence considered the project and agreed to contribute 50% of the cost. Wexford Local Authority is contributing the balance. The development is nearing completion.

Commenting today, Minister Kehoe said: “I’m delighted to have secured approval for this funding from my department which will prove extremely beneficial to our Civil Defence volunteers. These volunteers play a crucial role in serving the community of Gorey and beyond.”
