Former Irish soccer international, Kevin Doyle, forked out €155,000, for Altior’s half brother, a 5-month colt foal by Camelot, at today’s Tattersalls November National Hunt Sale at Fairyhouse.
Altior set a new record for the most consecutive jumps wins after posting a 19th back-to-back success, and 20th overall, in the Grade 1 Celebration Chase at the end-of-season meeting at Sandown in April and his half brother was offered by his breeder, Paddy Behan snr.
Auctioneer, Edmond Mahony, opened the bidding at 100,000, the bidding crept up in increments of €5,000 and €10,000, and finally knocked down to Doyle.
Kevin operates Slaney River Stud along with his father, Paddy, last year they purchased the Grade 1-winning hurdler Augusta Kate for €85,000, at last year’s November Sale, she had a Champs Elysees filly foal in April, and she is back in foal to Flemensfirth.
