The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring TD, was in New Ross today where he was welcomed by the Cathaoirleach of Wexford County Council, Cllr Michael Sheehan and visited the Dunbrody Famine Ship and Irish Emigrant Experience, and announced the good news that Wexfordia – New Ross Tourism Transformation Project has been granted funding of €5.5 million under the Rural Regeneration & Development Fund.
Minister Ring said; “Today’s announcement represents the completion of the second call for funding under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund. We have had a phenomenal level of interest, with applications of an excellent standard, and I want to take this opportunity to congratulate all those who were successful.”
Today’s announcement was also welcomed by Minister Michael D’Arcy who said; “The Rural Regeneration and Development Fund was established under Project Ireland 2040 to deliver the targeted investment necessary to ensure that rural Ireland continues to grow and prosper and deliver on the balanced regional growth that is in everyone’s interests.”
“The Wexfordia – New Ross Tourism Transformation Project granted €5.5 million in funding as part of today’s announcement will be of great benefit to the local area and to Wexford, and will also provide a boost to the local economy.”
