The Fogarty brothers, Mikey and Jonathan, showed their well being ahead of Sunday’s Pettitts Senior Hurling County final, by combining to land the 4.30 at Thurles this afternoon, the Premier County Mares Handicap Hurdle, with Robin Gold.
The homebred mare by Gold Well (GB), out of One Song (IRE), ridden by Mikey, and trained by Jonathan, was the subject of a significant market move, she was available at 50/1 this morning in the offices, and returned at 8/1 on course.
That result certainly bodes well for St Anne’s as they bid to win their first Senior Hurling title since 2000, on that occasion they over-turned the better fancied Oulart-The Ballagh side, and on Sunday the Annes are rank outsiders against St Martin’s.
